About the Accommodation

Raio do Sol (Sunbeam) is a new studio apartment. It is a well-lit, sunny space decorated very simply to allow you to relax and enjoy the beautiful views. It has a balcony with a view into the garden and the valley beyond.

There are stairs leading up to this accommodation so it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

We are privileged to have a large natural garden area which you are free to enjoy. During the seasons we have lemons, oranges, apples, pears, figs and even damsons. Feel free to pick some for your table. The garden has space to wander, play games and nooks to relax.

The Camino de Santiago is, approximately 5 minutes walk away from our house. If you're considering pausing for a while after reaching the end of the world, we feel our location would be a great place to reflect on your experience.

A local baker delivers to our door every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Let him know a day in advance what you need.

There is a grocery van that stops at the village for 5-10 minutes every weekday morning at 10:00 am. Alternatively, Muxia town is a 30-minute walk away (or a 5-minute car ride).

Neighbourhood

We are located in a small rural hamlet just 30 minutes walk away from Muxia town Centre.

Muxia town is just a short half-hour walk away or just 5 minutes by car. You will find bars, restaurants, a children's play area, a marina, a library, a medical centre and shops. Here you will also find el Santuario da Virxe da Barca (church) at the far tip of the headland. Sit and listen to the waves pound the rocks whilst you watch the sunset over the coast.

Within half an hour’s walk of Sosego d'Oruxo are three gorgeous beaches and more just a short drive away. These beaches rarely get very crowded even in the height of summer so you can enjoy the sand and sea. The area is steeped in history so whether your interest is Celts, Romans, dolmens or churches you are guaranteed to find something to prick your interest. Or maybe you want to see some traditional lace-making and hear some traditional bagpipes and tambourine playing.

Transport

There are many good walking routes near our home - including a roughly 2-hour circular route that passes our house and takes you down to the Virgen da Barca church at the tip of the headland that Muxia is located on.

There are bus stops in Muxia that go to Cee, A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. There is a taxi service available from Muxia and from the apartment.

If you want to explore a little further afield it would be convenient to have a car, these can be rented either in A Coruña or Santiago de Compostela. Alternatively, if you don't want to hire a car for your whole trip but would like to see more of the area, talk to us about day trips that we offer.
